Catherine Sarah Du Val was born on 13 August 1849, the daughter of Charles Allen Du Val and his wife formerly Elizabeth Renney and baptised in Manchester Cathedral.
She was married to James Francis Wilkinson on 1 July 1868 also in Manchester Cathedral. He was a cotton broker, and the brother of Frederick Wilkinson who had married Catherine‘s sister Frances Du Val three years previously.
Catherine Wilkinson died in Liverpool in 1873 aged only 25.
In 1901 Catherine’s husband, James Wilkinson, aged 59, was a boarder in Liverpool.
Catherine and James Wilkinson had one daughter, Beatrice, born in 1870 in Liverpool. Beatrice Wilkinson was married to Robert Stewart Davidson, a rector’s son from Somerset. They spent some time in the United States of America, where their sons Donald and Robert Davidson were born. In the 1911 census Beatrice described herself as a cookery instructress and was living in Nottinghamshire. She had left her husband while in America.
